I’m extremely happy with what I have accomplished today I think it might help me accomplish way more in the upcoming days
Growth mindset
this was a wonderful course by khan academy taught me information I never were able to explain about how we get smarter and how to keep getting smarter, it was super helpful that I plan to revisit it tomorrow 2025/02/05 to write about it in my handbook, it got me question many habits that I do everyday and how can I make the most out of everyday to always get smarter and grow, I remember a part where course points out that sometimes we don’t know where we’re going but one thing for sure is that you’re never going the wrong way when you keep learning, a simple statement yet simplifies so much of the hassle and anxiety of not knowing what to do and where to go, the course talks deeply about that no one was ever born as a swimmer we’re all drowning in a way but trying our best to stay afloat
recognizing that we’re not much different than each other is a crucial first step whatever someone has done you can do too, each day is an opportunity to understand and learn, by yourself or from others and when you challenge your brain and push it to it’s limits each day eventually you will be able to make anything you want possible
it’s 6:40PM right now, I don’t want to write all about the course here that’s the job for tomorrow me but I was just excited about it

if I were to give each unit 1 day to master I will have a 90 days window to learn everything but my friend insisted that we should get it done before eid which is around 54 days from now, so we decided to do 2 units per day
that gives us 45 Days
I don’t know how realistic of a goal this is, but at least it’s time bounded, specific, actionable and easily measurable which hit 4/5 of the goal required steps >.>

- you must get at least 28+ on all exams before moving on, especially the highlighted ones
- preferably finish the highlighted lessons within 26 days, since the next lessons might need 1 day for each lesson
what good shall I do this day
complete course by khan academy and then afterwards I would love to be able to write about what I have learned in the handbook in style that would be easy to consume in the future, try to simplify it as much as possible
that alone task might take the majority of my day aside from exercising I don’t usually want that to be the case but I’m making an exception for this course, but if I there is time to spare or I wish to work on something else a good place to start might be to learn some math or create a habit tracker app that measures various specific activities and habits with a style that is similar to how the github contribution would look like

Math
it’s 11:07AM right now, I got a bit off plan and finished 10 Arithmetic unit tests until I decided to stop, I couldn’t complete 10 while getting 10/10 and my goal is to have them all correct but it was starting to get hard for me especially starting from unit 9 I realized very quickly that my brain is not understanding the topic and much as it should, it’s clear this was a problem in the core of my math foundation and I have been ignore it my entire life, not only this I’m also not very comfortable with odd numbers which is something that bothered me, I would love to feel as comfortable with odd numbers as much as I’m comfortable with even numbers, even better as much as the counting by 5’s which is where I feel most comfortable, I believe this might enable my brain to see the world from a new point of view, knowing counting seems to me like the foundation of most information we know today, getting as comfortable as possible with it seems like a logical choice
as kids we started by counting up to 5, then 10 using our fingers and if you used the lines in each finger you can count up to 30, eventually teachers taught us to practice mental math (a group of skills that allow people to do math “in their head” without using pencil and paper or a calculator), so counting by 5’s might seem the natural simpler thing and it might be, but I think the way we learned counting to begin with played a huge role
mental counting odd numbers puts too much stress on my brain and I’m starting to think I should do that more until it feels normal
- I should work towards getting comfortable with counting odd numbers until they are as close to counting by 5’s as possible
- I should be able to divide, multiply, add and subtract positive or negative numbers in fractions with ease
Course
while I have completed the course I wasn’t able to write about it because I couldn’t figure out the best way to go about doing it, I dislike writing a lot of notes because I know that I will rarely go back to read them but I do want to write something that would make me able to recall and very easily explain this information even to someone who didn’t learn it, I would love it to be easily digestible in a way that just gets you the idea and if you would like to know more you could go back to the sources to go deeper, maybe having a wikipedia like website for this sort of stuff is best, who knows I will need to learn and experiment before starting to write

I might delay the writing of the course and focus on math this entire day, I’m planning to finish Arithmetic today and possibly algebra 1 or half of it

today I unexpectedly had to accompany someone which took around 6 hours of my day, thus I was only able to finish around 5 unit tests instead
to avoid this in the future I should try to finish as much as possible of my work in the morning
on another note, I might have got an idea on how I will be writing the handbook I was talking about earlier, I was thinking about having a mind map representing every topic on how they relate to each other, making that map was a hard part for me but possible using diagon text to DAG might help?
now another issue how I would structure my content for example a brain is a broad topic with sleep being part of it, but also sleep is a broad topic with brain being part of it and food is part of both but I can’t list all 3 sections repeatedly under each one, I will leave this for my future self to figure it out

yesterday I wasn’t able to hit my goal of finishing arithmetics, I got only a little bit but today I want to finish it and some algebra too

managed to hit my goal for today, didn’t quite finish arithmetics fully because there is two units I decided to skip for now 16 and 17 because I felt like they were too boring >.>
but I did 2 units in algebra 1 and they were a lot more fun
so you could say arithmetics was done in around 3 days which I’m very happy for I hope I can do the same or close to it with algebra 1
I got an idea this morning when I woke up, seeing great success with how fast I’m moving with studying math gave me confident that I should aim for a bigger goal when it comes to business, I discussed with people around me and they seem to agree that it’s the right choice
let’s first explain the old plan
I wanted to a business that was will be sold for millions potentially even a billion but it wasn’t what I wanted in life, it was just to fund my next more ambitious goal of building a revolutionary solution to a problem, I don’t correctly have this problem in mind it was just an idea but it was going to be a moon shot
the new idea became that I don’t have to do that anymore, I could just raise money to be able to do that and also there was nothing that gave me full confidence that the first business will even succeed, if it were to fail it will many years somewhat wasted, I don’t see myself in the phase where I don’t know where to go in life anymore, I don’t think more failures will teach me much especially in fields like the first business where it was mostly going to be a crud app and giving that my next moon shot idea won’t require talking to a lot of people, meeting customers won’t matter much too
I figured it might be best to keep learning, when you keep learning you only lose once you die without achieving anything but the longer you learn the more dangerous you become
this made the new idea seem the more safer bet, vc’s are willing to take a chance and whether it works or it doesn’t you will be making money either way but you will never have to sacrifice learning, it feels like a win/win

aside from that idea taking time off my day, I’ll learn as much math as possible today, I’ll try to at least get a few unit tests before the end of the day

not happy with how today went, I started day and was thinking a bit too much that I burned my head too early, tried doing some math but failed miserably, clearly I won’t be able to move in algebra 1 with the same pace as arithmetics, it was a massive ego hit :<
I’ll be happy if I could get it done in the next five days, 4 and I will be extremely happy but for that to happen I need to figure out a system for myself, maybe I just need to watch the actual videos but I do think that I also need some giant cheat sheet on the wall of my room surely that will fix it!

today for some reason I had the sleep and I feel energized, I have a feeling that I truly can finish half of algebra 1 today

I unexpectedly had to accompany someone, but was still able to hit my goal of reaching half of algebra, things are moving a lot faster, I really feel like I’m starting to understand and think properly, it only took a few ego hits to do the trick and get me to focus I really believe I’m gonna move a lot faster from now own, I have feeling that I might be able to even finish algebra 1 tomorrow
not only did I had to accompany someone yesterday I also had guests come over which caused me to sleep late yesterday, and I sort of feel it’s effects today

I hope I can do more math it will be so nice if I’m able to finish algebra 1 all the remaining 6 units, it’s somewhat unlikely but I’ll be proud of myself if I could

it became so much better than I expected, I found a new way to learn that made me move at almost 3 times my normal speed which made me do around 3 units right after learning it, while I wasn’t able to finish algebra it was unlikely anyways due to quadratics, but I got 3 units left for me to learn, afterwards I’m going to take multiple course tests
tomorrow should be the day where I finish algebra 1 and start with geometry

I was supposed to finish algebra 1 today but again I had to go which took around 5 hours of my day, but I have only about the last unit which I’ll be hopefully finish it tomorrow and take a the course test then start geometry right away
today I realized something, it seems like it’s better that when I wake up earlier than usual to not go back to sleep, today I slept a bit later than usual and woke up earlier than normal yet I feel energized, really weird how that works, but it sort of makes sense once you learn how sleep works, this makes pressing the snooze button or going back to sleep until the alarm goes off is not a good idea

I was planning to be done with algebra yesterday but I had to go which took 5 hours of my day, but it’s okay because I managed to finish as much as I could and today I only have 1 unit left, I’ll do that then I’ll start with geometry

quadratics was tougher than I thought and took more than I expected, I managed to finish about half of it + redoing some quizzes to reach higher course mastery, I will have to continue the rest of quadratics tomorrow

quadratics legit took the entire day, but I got it down just before bed time, I’ll do the course test tomorrow then start with geometry
I’m at a point where I cannot stop thinking about math, my brain is fully immersioned in it, I’m currently solving math problems during my sleep, for future me, that is not a joke

today I want to begin by finishing 100% of the algebra 1 course before moving on I’m now done with it but there is some gaps, not everything is mastered so it’s setting around 85% so might as well get it to 100% before moving on and make that the habit

it’s 1 pm and it’s over, my brain is fried but algebra is done!
I also decided not to reach for the 100% but only > 80% because that will require more days to get everything to 100% while I’m likely to do well, I thought it would be better to leave it at the very end as I’m planning to take the courses of integrated math to use everything that I have learned and master all of them at once while catching the topics that I might have forgot
Geometry
I have gone a bit through geometry but I wouldn’t like to speed through it, I want to really understand how to do things and so far it feels like in geometry I can do a lot of tests by making the answer look like the correct one but not using an actual formula which I dislike doing, so I’ll take it slowly

I want to learn as much geometry as I could but I care to understand every part and be able to do it visually and without seeing the object if possible

I spent almost my entire day helping my friend, but I think it was time worth spent, other than this I found this tool desmos and this Postulates and Theorems ‐ Geometry
I’m gonna use both of them to repeat whats in the postulates pdf but using desmos to add visual cues, I think this will help me understand how to proof when it comes to Geometry and be able to learn and understand it deeper, I wasn’t too happy with how fast I was moving with Geometry I felt like I needed to understand it deeper and it could help me improve my problem solving skills once I do

I’ll spend the day writing a cheat sheet pdf for geometry to help me understand proof faster, if I happen to have more time afterwards I’ll do some geometry in khan academy

I got hooked with the idea of using code to visualize math, so I was wondering whether I should use motion canvas instead of desmos, I’m just a bit skeptical about how long it would take to learn the tool, whether it’s a good move or not I’m not 100% sure but I was thinking that it just has more stuff to offer but a steeper learning curve, but in the end I will end up with a skill that is more than just visualizing geometric objects on 2D planes but any object 2D or 3D geometry, math or other stuff and have them as a video as a bonus for if I wanted to turn it into a youtube career
I’ll experiment with it more tomorrow I should have a clear plan around this specific topic because it will take a while and I can’t afford spending too much time, I need to figure out a plan to learn it faster or leave it for later

I’ll dedicate this day only into learning just enough motion canvas to use for my current needs, anything extra like 3D will be later once it becomes needed, as for now to not slow myself too much I’ll just get what I need and move on, after that I might get started on creating notes for geometry using what have learned from the tool but I’ll leave that thought for later

A lot has happened today, most importantly is I figured out that I was heading on the complete wrong direction with thinking about motion canvas or manim, there is better tools that more fit my job, in python especially there are many of them like matplotlib and seaborn and many more, the best part is they’re very straight forward to use so almost no learning is required
I decided to use desmos geometry for normal straight forward cases, it does the job much better and faster than these tools too, I find them more useable for more complex examples
so if simple shape, desmos is enough and if it is complex visualization then use python
tomorrow I’ll begin with writing notes about math inshallah afterwards I’ll get back to studying.

mid day update
while working on the notes I quickly realized how unnecessary this is, writing notes for something I’m learning is something I think I’ll never do again, because it takes so much time, while I do understand the subject better I would much rather learn the same subject twice rather than writing notes that I never see myself revisiting
this already took 4 days away from me and it was totally not worth it, if I had learned the same subjects at a slower pace it would have been faster if it even mattered, the way I’m going to be doing this moving forward is just practicing the actual subject somewhat daily, whether at work or as a test, this is far better and faster and I find it too difficult to understand anything from the first time, practice is a much better way of learning

I haven’t done much today, I’ll go back to math tomorrow and just stick with it until it’s over, while I can pass the tests I won’t think too much of it.

I’m starting to struggle to keep up with my goal of learning math, I’m not far behind but I’m not but I’m not ahead, I think I’m about 1 day behind right now, I need to focus on finishing my tasks on time and keep up with journaling

I spent the entire day trying to finish geometry and it’s almost done but it’s getting too late now, I’ll get it done tomorrow inshallah, but also need figure out a time for my journaling, I keep forgetting it which makes me miss my goal’s pace

not much, a small things here and there but pretty disappointing day overall, I think I need to sleep earlier so I can wake up on time, I also must push myself to get up from the bed when I wake up the first time otherwise I end up falling asleep again and ends up being terrible again just like today.
sleeping early was a really good decision, I managed to wake up on time and exercise and had spare time to do other stuff which is nice, I’ll try to do that daily from now

managed to finish algebra 2, 1 of the units was trigonometry in disguise, I finished half of it then choose to leave for when I start on trigonometry
the day started very bad idk what happened to me but I was struggling to understand things and my brain was hot the entire time, I think it’s due to eating sugar and not having a good sleep + wake up routine.
I think I should avoid using screens before bed and after waking up, I should also avoid using youtube as soon as I wake up, many small bad habits like this they seem to effect my next day mood heavily, I should look out for these terrible habits and cut them off or try to prevent them.

today was weird, I did good in trig, I actually finished the majority of trig, I think I can get the rest done by tomorrow
but I also didn’t do some of my other habits like working out, I instead slept longer and did cardio which actually made me feel really good and understand so much better, I think it’s mostly due to waking up when my body has had enough sleep but cardio seemed to help a bit, I think I might keep these 2 as a habit
I’m getting more and more off track these days, extremely unhappy with my performance, and struggling to keep up with my daily habits
I feel like most of this is due to my terrible sleep routine lately, I’m even struggling to write this journal from how embarrassed I am with my daily results
I tried waking up only when my body feels like it and sleep when it feels like it but idk it doesn’t seem like that was a good idea, but there is no point of fixing it right now as I will have to go somewhere after tomorrow and it will force me to break it once again
for what I have done today, I did some trig and learned some chess didn’t manage to hit my goal and my brain couldn’t learn more trig it seems like I need to learn the foundation again because I don’t understand it clearly
from now on I won’t be skipping anything, the math subjects are getting hard enough where it’s becoming more and more difficult to guess what the right solution is, I need to understand every subject deeper, getting the answer right without understanding the reason or vaguely understanding it isn’t going to cut it anymore
it seems like the best thing to do is to just wake up on time regardless how I feel, today it was a bit hard to get out off bed, it felt like I needed more sleep but once I got up it I feel very normal now.

I skip trig for now, the last few units are draining me and the day goes on without much progress, I will leave it until I can’t ignore it anymore, but for now I’ll move on to precalculus.
today I’ll have to visit my relatives so not much planned for today other than studying the london system in chess because I want to beat one of my relatives at chess ♟️ :D
today I woke up very late because I got back from visiting my relatives, we stood up for the entire night there
anyways I dedicated the day into searching more for a good workout plan so I can solve the workout issues once and for all and I think I found a good system, I’ll be dedicating tomorrow’s time into setting it up

had a bad sleep last night and didn’t have much energy for math today, but I did manage to figure out how the warm up exercises work and also something very interesting happened today, I figured out how to get good at things that involve emotion, this was a very big thing for me I’ll probably write about it more in a book one day but to keep it simple for now, the secret is emotion can’t be treated like equations or a puzzle that you can solve, you should use the creative part of your brain, the one that doesn’t require much logic and makes fast decisions, this one is very good in these cases because you can treat it like a neural network, you give it the important outcomes that you care about say getting more views on youtube, and all the other metrics around that goal (Retention, clickthrough rate, etc..) the more the better
and just keep trying your best to produce the best content you can, interestingly this part of the brain eventually is gonna figure out what’s good and what’s bad and actually start getting great results without having a good reason why that is other than just feelings
a similar example is the guy who works at gendering chicks, if you were to ask him, he wouldn’t know why one is male and the other is female, all he knows that he is right the majority of the time, they were trained by a similar process, we give them a chick and ask them is a boy or a girl, and after he chooses we tell them whether they are right or wrong but everyone can’t tell why that is to begin with
what good shall I do this day
today I feel much better than yesterday because I slept somewhat early, also finally we can get back to math I’ll do as much precalculus as possible
I haven’t been keeping up very well with journal but math is going decent, tomorrow I’ll start with my workout plan and hopefully fix this inconsistency
really good start for the day, did my exercises and I feel really good about it because it was much more intense than what I used to do before and it’s feels like a big improvement!
what good shall I do this day
precalculus, I need to finish it within about 5 days, I’ll also switch everything calculus related after precalculus in the original goal to calculus 1 and calculus 2 then finally linear algebra, it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to hit my goal of finishing math before eid but I guess I got pretty close I suspect that I will be able to finish calculus 1 before eid, if I was able to also finish two then linear algebra I’m sure won’t take long, I will have 15 days left to get it all done
I would really love to not have to do much calculus after eid maybe I will try my best to finish everything within these 15 days so let’s set up a plan.
so calculus 1 and 2 combined have around 14 units, what if I finish precalculus within 3 days, that will leave me with 12 days, if i were to do 1.20 units a day I would be able to finish on time givin that I finish precalculus in time that sounds hard but doable
here is the plan then
- by 2025-03-18 I should be done with precalculus
- by 2025-03-24 - 2025-03-25 I should be done with calculus 1
- by 2025-03-30 I should be done with calculus 2
linear algebra is quite easy and short, learned most 80% of it in precalculus so I will learn the rest during eid
update
if I’m able to finish precalculus by tomorrow this will let me reach my goal by doing 1 unit a day which is more possible, I’ll try to take the challenge head on to have an easier time later, for that it seems like I would need to do about 3 units of precalculus today and tomorrow to finish on time, let’s give it a shot

today went incredible!
I did my workout plan and the new calculus plan is going perfectly, I managed to finish what I set up for myself and a bit more to help myself tomorrow, if I don’t do anything stupid I should finish precalculus by tomorrow

today is my birthday, so I will celebrate by finishing precalculus

my brain is so fried right now but I finished precalculus on time! now all I have to do is try my best to do at least 1 unit a day of calculus and I should be good
it’s been a few days and I haven’t wrote anything but everything is going fine, I bit behind on calculus but i think I could try to make it up, exercises are going really good as well seeing a lot improvements already from the pervious workout plan.
today I slept late which messed up my energy for today, I’ll try to sleep early tomorrow so I can get back on track
as well I decided to not do calculus 2, and finish my math journey with calculus 1 and the any extra advanced math I will learn it when I have a application for it.
many days I didn’t do as many updates, it’s clear that I’m at the home stretch when it comes to math, and I’m struggling to keep up, but I’m not getting lazier or anything my workouts have been actually very consistent didn’t miss a day, I just think I pushed my self for too long with math honestly that my brain is getting tired.
I’m still passionate about it, I will likely learn more in the future once I find an application that will require me to learn an applied math subject, I learned about most of pure math by now, the foundation at least, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus I, which I think will be good enough to make me able to understand math in the majority of use cases and learn something new fast like probability when I need it which I’m very likely to come back to learning in the near future but I want to do that when I’m about to use it

calculus for the rest of the 3 days of ramadan, I would really love to finish calculus I, before eid so this is where I’ll put all my attention
